The COVID-19 pandemic in Australia is an ever-evolving situation, and it is necessary for Surf Life Saving Queensland to adapt to current circumstances to ensure the health and safety of its staff, members and any other third parties who visit or have interactions dealings with SLSQ and our affiliated entities.
COVID-19 vaccines play a critical role in protecting the health and wellbeing of people in Australia (*). Surf Life Saving Queensland’s mission is to operate as a proactive and effective peak body leading the way in lifesaving service provision, education, sport, beach and water safety advocacy and community leadership.
In consideration of our core values of Leadership, Community, Safety, Trust, Respect and Teamwork the Surf Life Saving Queensland Board has recently met to consider the Queensland Government Announcement on 09 November 2021 regarding Covid-19 Vaccinations and the Queensland Roadmap going forward.
This roadmap impacts members attending a Surf Life Saving Supporters Clubs/Licenced Premises in that they must adhere to the current mandate of the Queensland Government and be double vaccinated by 17 December 2021.
SLSQ has considered all options and following a robust risk management assessment, the Board has determined reached a position that ALL members of Surf Life Saving Queensland that are 16 years of age and over are required to be fully vaccinated by 31 March 2022.
There will be a consultation process for a period with key stakeholders and workers to ensure they are informed and engaged with the vaccination position and subsequent process.
To ensure that our affiliated entities, key stakeholders and members have all the information they require about this position please see FAQ’s for your information.
