Lifesaver 46 joins search for missing fisherman

Lifesaver 46 has spent more than fours hours in the air today conducting a searching near Fraser Island for the missing fisherman.

They have now been stood down and returned to base.

Lifesaver 46 has spent more than two hours in the air this morning, searching waters off Fraser Island.

The have refuelled and are now returning to the search area again.

The Sunshine Coast-based Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter has returned to waters off Hervey Bay again today, to assist in the search for a fisherman.

The helicopter was first tasked by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, just after 12.00pm yesterday and conducted a search of the area for two hours before returning to base.

They have re-commenced their search this morning and are currently in the air.

It is believed the 37-year-old fisherman departed on Monday for an overnight fishing trip but failed to return.

Lifesaver 46 has conducted a search in the waters off Hervey Bay and Fraser Island.

They have now been stood down for the day and are returning to base.

The Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service will remain on standby tomorrow, should they be tasked again.

The Sunshine Coast-based Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter is currently in the air, searching for a fisherman off the coast of Hervey Bay.

The helicopter was tasked by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, just after 12:00pm and has joined various other authorities involved in the search.

It is believed the 37-year-old fisherman departed on Monday for an overnight fishing trip but failed to return.
