Kurrawa defends title at QLD IRB Championships
Kurrawa have successfully defended their title for a second year in a row to win the 2020 Queensland IRB Championships in dominant fashion.
A great weekend of racing saw Gold Coast clubs take out the podium positions for the overall team point score.
Kurrawa finished on 125 points to seal the state win ahead of close rivals Kirra (109 points) and Miami Beach (47 points).
Broadbeach (45 points) and Alexandra Headlands (38 points) rounded out the top five.
SLSQ Surf Sport Manager Stuart Hogben said it was great to see lifesavers demonstrate their skills at the prestigious event.
“It’s been a fantastic weekend of racing with competitors demonstrating skill, speed and teamwork across more than a hundred races,” he said.
“Kurrawa and Kirra have been dominant in all their races over the past two days, making it a close finish.”
The championships featured more than 260 surf lifesavers from 17 clubs across the state battling it out at Broadbeach across two days of fast and furious action.
