
Day two of Queensland Youth State Championships
The second day of the 2021 Queensland Youth State Championships saw plenty of action across the beach and water events.
Gold and Sunshine Coast competitors continue to dominate in the placings, as clubs battle to be named the 2021 champions.
SLSQ Sports Manager Stuart Hogben said lots of points would be on offer throughout Day 3 of competition.
“Today was action-packed with heats and quarter finals for various events ahead of the last day tomorrow,” he said.
“There will be plenty of finals tomorrow, so the competitors will be trying their hardest to earn points for their club.”
Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park’s Harrison Broue and Taj Payne claimed gold in the Under 15 Male Board Rescue, ahead of Tannum Sands (2nd) and Currumbin (3rd).
The Under 15 Female Board Rescue was dominated by Metropolitan Caloundra with Finnlea Barlow and Poppy Stephen claiming gold, while Eva Ashworth and Lucia Richards claimed silver.
Meanwhile, North Burleigh’s Brody Muller proved too good in the Under 13 Male Beach Flags claiming gold.
Day 3 will kick-off with the All Age Beach Relay, followed by the March Past, featuring the Albatross Nippers – a program for children with special needs. Water finals will ensure a thrilling afternoon of action, including the hotly contested Ironman and Ironwoman events.
