Crocodile sighted at Four Mile Beach

Friday, 9 July 2021

Surf Life Saving Queensland lifeguards at Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas, closed the beach earlier today (around 9:15am) due to a crocodile sighting.

Lifeguards were able to detect the crocodile early using a Surf Life Saving Queensland drone.

Following the closure, lifeguards continued to monitor the crocodiles movements using the drone.

At 1.30pm after no further sightings the beach was reopened.

The incident serves as a timely reminder to always swim at patrolled locations, between the red and yellow flags, where lifeguards are on duty to watch over beachgoers and monitor the water for marine creatures.
