BEACH CLOSURES - SATURDAY 6 FEBRUARY

Gold Coast beaches are experiencing massive swells, up to 2m, generated by ex tropical cyclone Lucas.

Three people have drowned on Gold Coast beaches outside of patrol hours over the past 48 hours.

Surf Life Saving Queensland are pleading with Gold Coast beachgoers to follow lifesavers and lifeguards’ advice, by staying out of the water today. 

“The conditions today are extremely strong and powerful, making it unsafe to swim,” Nathan Fife Lifesaving Services Supervisor said.

“We have seen three people tragically lose their lives after going for a swim.  

“We ask everyone on the Gold Coast north of Burleigh, to not enter the water today.”
