There’s a role in
lifesaving for everybody
Have you ever thought about becoming a surf lifesaver?
Each and every year, thousands of men, women and young adults across the state line up to patrol Queensland’s coastline, providing a vital community service and saving thousands of lives in the process.
However, off the beach and behind the scenes, there are literally hundreds of other jobs and opportunities available to those who aren’t confident in the water or don’t want to get their feet wet. Whether it’s a surf sports coach, a club treasurer, a BBQ coordinator or a junior activities age manager, there’s a role for everyone in surf life saving regardless of age, gender, shape or size.
Importantly, becoming a surf lifesaver also offers many opportunities both within and outside of the movement.
Member Development
Surf Life Saving Queensland is committed to providing leadership pathways for members in the movement.
Member development programs begin on a club level and are also conducted at branch, state and national levels. Each has a particular focus, and each prepares members for movement through those levels. SLSQ offers a number of opportunities for members to build on their personal and professional capabilities as outlined in the membership development pathway below.
Member Development Programs
Athlete Development
A pivotal part of Queensland’s continued success in surf sports is SLSQ’s strong focus on athlete development at grassroots level.
SLSQ has implemented an athlete development program which provides an opportunity for surf sports athletes to further develop their skills, allowing our members to reach their full potential. Traditionally, Queensland has produced some of the country’s best surf sports athletes and SLSQ is committed to continuing this tradition as well as offering athletes of any ability the opportunity to perform at their best.
