Little Lifesaving Legends

Little Lifesaving Legends is a nippers program, specifically designed for children with challenges, ranging from Asperger’s, intellectual disability, ASD, cognitive delay, social & emotional challenges, and children struggling to obtain a diagnosis.

This program, aimed at children between the ages of five and 16, is a modified nippers program run by qualified and experienced surf lifesavers to teach water safety skills in a fun, safe and supportive environment.

Throughout the program, children will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities and games encompassing water skills and lifesaving techniques, all designed to slowly build their confidence in the water and teach them how to stay safe at the beach.

As an inclusive organisation, we’d also like to open up the program to any and all siblings as well to help support and encourage participants.

If you are unsure whether this program is suitable for your child, please don’t hesitate to contact our Community Awareness team (07) 3846 8000 or littlelegends@lifesaving.com.au.

Hear from some of our previous participants about the Little Lifesaving Legends program.

It was amazing seeing my son, who hasn’t been out anywhere or at school for many months now due also to his ASD and anxiety, actually doing something.  Special thanks to the helper Craig from Mooloolaba Surf Club for being so kind and patient. The patience and kindness he showed my children Cindy and Levi, who both have Autism, was amazing. All volunteers were amazing and delivered at just the right level.

Before today, I would NOT have thought my son could do Nippers, or would cope in the surf past his knees.

Fantastic. Exceeded our expectations. Kids loved it. It has given them confidence. My kids are already asking when they can do it again. Can’t wait until next time!

Fantastic!! The kids were motivated, supported and excited! Thank you! My son asked if he could come back to the ‘beach school’ everyday!

Perfect. Wonderful. Thank you so much.

Brilliant program that suited and included all needs.
