Offshore Rescue BoatsOffshore Rescue Boats (ORBs) are fully kitted-out emergency response vessels, carrying state-of-the-art rescue, lifesaving and medical equipment. Unlike the majority of other rescue crafts, their speciality is search and rescue, with a strong emphasis on first aid and basic medical response and assistance. The vessels are also involved with special events, community awareness programs and, due to the nature of the patrols, multi-agency search and rescue operations with other marine rescue agencies. The service also provides a 24-hour callout service with the boat providing water supervision on weekends and public holidays throughout the year. SLSQ also utilises its rescue boats to assist agencies such as the Queensland Water Police and Coast Guard in search and rescue operations when required.
