Future Champions Surf Life Saving CarnivalFuture Champions Canrival cancelled: Following advice from emergency services departments and internal stakeholders, the decision has been made to cancel the 2012 Future Champions event that was scheduled to be conducted this weekend (28th and 29th January) at Tweed Heads and Coolangatta SLSC. Surf Life Saving Queensland apologises for the inconvenience this may cause, but unfortunately the various hazards have made it too dangerous to proceed. To allow people as much notice as possible, and with significant falls expected over the next few days which will only exacerbate the existing issues, we have decided to cancel the event now. In 2010 Surf Life Saving Queensland embarked on an exciting new era of surf sports and junior participation, with the launch of the Future Champions Surf Carnival. In 2012 the Future Champions Carnival returns, scheduled to be held across two days on January 28-29 at Tweed Heads and Coolangatta. The event, which attracted close to 1,000 of the sport’s top youngsters in the inaugural carnival, was specifically introduced as part of a concerted effort by SLSQ to foster the development of emerging athletes across both Queensland and Australia.
