Rescue StoriesMooloolaba SLSC As told by Khristian Childs of Beenleigh On the morning on Saturday, 5 May I had gone up the coast with my son to Mooloolaba to enjoy the great weather and beach. Swimming between the flags we both began to be swept out to sea. My son was with me the entire time and luckily enough for him he was able to catch a wave and make his way back to shore safely. As I saw him make it back safely my heart began to race even more as the situation was becoming worse. I was very fatigued after being in the water for well over an hour and I’m not the greatest swimmer to begin with. I was able to follow the lead of my son and catch a wave that took me back to shore. As I popped my head up I had a lifesaver standing by who had seen the situation developing and was on his way to save both myself and my son. I’d like to pass on my thanks to both the Mooloolaba surf lifesavers and Surf Life Saving Queensland as an organisation for providing this great service, you do a great job.
