Surf Safe Appeal

This year, Surf Life Saving Queensland is calling on all Queenslanders to get behind the red and yellow army of volunteer surf lifesavers during the 2012 Surf Safe Appeal.  Now in its 9th year, the Surf Safe Appeal is the largest annual fundraising initiative for SLSQ and is pivotal in ensuring that volunteer surf lifesavers have the necessary equipment, training and resources to continue safeguarding our state’s beaches and provides a valuable avenue for Surf Life Saving to highlight the services we provide to the community.
 
Generously supported by Channel Nine and a range of corporate supporters the appeal also consists of an annual doorknock and street appeal which will run from November 19 to December 2 and gives all Queenslanders a chance to show their appreciation for the efforts of volunteer lifesavers across the state by making a donation.
Last year alone, Queensland’s volunteer surf lifesavers spent more than 335,000 hours on patrol, performing 346,000 preventative actions and, most importantly, saving some 2,866 lives in the process.
