HLTFA301B - Apply First Aid (previously known as Senior First Aid)
Apply First Aid training aims to develop the knowledge and skills for a person to manage emergency first aid situations and deliver competent emergency care until the arrival of professional medical support. The course includes CPR. Cours Duration 8 hours (1 day full course - preferred method) 8 hours (Refresher course required every 3 years) Pre-Requisite The minimum age requirement for Apply First Aid is 15 years. Course Fees Full Course - $135 Refresher Course - $95 Course fees include supply of a training manual, course resources and certification certificates (only issued if you complete all Assessment competently). Certification On successfully completing the training and assessment, participants will obtain a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment in the following unit of competency: HLTFA301B Apply First Aid. Also incorporates the content of: HLTCPR201A Perform CPR HLTFA201A Provide Basic Emergency Life Support Course Content The following outlines the content included in this course: • Apply the principles of First Aid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) • Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management • Treatment of infection, shock, fractures, bleeding and burns Emergencies due to lack of oxygen, excess heat or cold, heart attack, stroke, asthma, diabetes and epilepsy • Management of common medical emergencies • Treatment of poisoning including venomous bites and stings. Assessment Participants will demonstrate their level of knowledge, skills and understanding through both practical and theoretical activities. Delivery Method One Day Full Course - 8 hours face-to-face training and assessment, with the theory and workbook completed in advance Refresher Course - 8 hours face-to-face training and assessment Recommended Recertification Period Apply First Aid - 3 years CPR - 12 months CPR
HLTCPR201A - Perform CPR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) delivers the essential knowledge, skills and competencies to maintain breathing and circulation in any emergency situation on adults, children and infants. ALAQ highly recommends combining this course with its Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management Course. COURSE DURATION 3 - 4 hours (Full Course) 2 hours (Refresher course required every 12 months) PRE-REQUISITES The minimum age requirement for CPR is 10 years. COURSE FEES Full Course - $55 Refresher Course - $45 Course fees include supply of a training manual, course resources and certification certificates (only issued if you complete all Assessment competently). CERTIFICATION On successfully completing the training and assessment, participants will obtain a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment in the following unit of competence: HLTCPR201A Perform CPR COURSE CONTENT • Casualty Assessment • Cardiovascular and Respiratory System • Emergency Action Principles • DRABCD • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation rates and techniques infant, child and adult • Procedure for placing a patient in the recovery position • Understanding of how to use a defibrillator ASSESSMENT Participants will demonstrate their level of knowledge, skills and understanding through practical and theoretical activities. METHODS OF DELIVERY Full Course - 3 to 4 hours face-to-face training and assessment Refresher Course - 2 hours face-to-face training and assessment RECOMMENDED RECERTIFICATION PERIOD CPR - 12 months Low Voltage Rescue
This course is aimed at individuals working in the electrical industry who wish to gain low voltage switchboard rescue and resuscitation skills for their workplace. This course is specifically designed for participants requiring qualifi cations as Safety Observers for live low voltage switchboard work to comply with: Australian Standards AS/ NZS 4836:200 and Electrical Safety Regulation 2002, in regards to Safety Observers. ALAQ's LVR course meets the requirements of the Electrical Safety Act and the Code of Practice: Electrical Work, Section 6-Working Live. A person completing this course is able to conduct a Low Voltage Rescue of a victim and carry out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as well as provide initial treatment of burns. DURATION 4 - 6 hours (Full Course) 3 hours (Update - CPR every12 months / LVR every 6 months) COURSE CONTENT • Switchboard risk management • Legislation • Electrical and gas injuries • Switchboard rescue preparation • Switchboard rescue • Scene assessment and management • Casualty assessment • Airway management • Management of the unconscious casualty • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). METHODS OF DELIVERY Full Course - 4 to 6 hours face-to-face training and assessment Update - 3 to 4 hours face-to-face training and assessment PRE-REQUISITES • The minimum age requirement for completion of an LVR Certifi cate is 15 years. • It is expected that participants will possess "hands on" experience within the building and construction industry. CERTIFICATION On successfully completing the training and assessment, participants will obtain certifi cation for: SLSQ Award Certificate in Low Voltage Rescue (non-accredited) (valid for 6 months) Nationally accredited Statement of Attainment in the following unit of competency: HLTFCPR201A Perform CPR Course
